ABOUT
Simone founded SGJ Fine Art in 2012, a professional art advisory headquartered in New York City for new and established private collectors, foundations, corporations and museums, across the United States and abroad, as well as select curatorial projects. Specializing in the acquisition and sale of Post-War and Contemporary art, whether it is the genesis of a new collection, or the fine-tuning of an existing one, Simone is committed to the growth and management of each client’s interests, experience and goals.
EXPERIENCE
Simone is a native of Kansas City, MO, and has spent over thirty years working in the international art world. She built degrees in Art History and English Literature from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, into leadership roles in the New York City gallery world.
Simone worked as Director of Jason McCoy Inc. (for whom she also founded a satellite gallery in Kansas City, MO), Barbara Mathes Gallery and Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, whose diverse programs afforded Simone expertise spanning several sectors of the art market. Simone has produced scores of exhibitions, participated in multiple, global art fairs including Art Basel, Art Basel/Miami Beach, FIAC, TEFAF Maastricht, and has curated numerous independent fine art and design projects, including David Hockney: Portraits, Louise Nevelson: Black Wall Constructions and re:construction: Interplay between Form and Function.
Simone’s affiliations are: USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) compliant, Accredited Member of the Appraisers Association of America (AAA); Executive Member of the Association of Professional Art Advisors (APAA); Member of the New Art Dealers Association (NADA); Member of ArtTable; Member of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM); Advisory Board of the Bellevue Literary Review (BLR).

Guide clients through the inner workings of galleries, museums, artists’ studio’s and art fairs, in person and virtually.
Explore, research, source, market analysis and propose works of art for acquisition and sale on the primary and secondary markets.
In-person and virtual inspection of works under consideration.
Manage framing, crating, shipping, insurance and condition logistics.
Collection management including ownership, database, insurance, loan, donation and library.
design
Work directly with a select group of published Interior Designers.
Maintain originality of projects efficiently and conscientiously, while maintaining a unique and personalized environment.
Source and acquire art for domestic and corporate settings.
Manage scale of project, time line, budget and goals for completion.
curate
Bridge gap between historical and contemporary art, as well as design.
Promote the ideology of contemporary artists who are not only making history but also joining history.
Collaborative, curatorial projects, gallery exhibitions and art fair participation.
